Building Inspector Resumes Tips
The work of Building Inspectors is that of ensuring that the building fulfills all safety requirements as laid down by the local building authorities. The Inspectors could come into the picture at the time of submission of blue prints before permission to build is granted, during the construction and after completion to enable the builder to obtain completion certificates to enable either sale or occupation. There are also Specialists, in Electricity, Plumbing, Roofing etc but by and large those positions are for advanced needs such as remodeling old buildings etc.
By and large, employment is possible in the local bodies for which an aspirant will need to pass the civil service examination conducted by the local authority periodically. The aspirant would also require to procure a license from the local authority to practice as a Building Inspector, prior to which he would have had to either qualify with a Civil Engineering Degree or a Degree in Architecture or a Associate Certificate from a technical school.
Employement in the private sector is increasingly becoming common with property owners, insurance companies and individual real estate investors and renters. In such employment, an important aspect of the job description would be an ability to assess the value of the property as well as its soundness for investment/insurance cover.
Employment is a full time possibility but working conditions can be tough with most building sites offering little in the form of paved surfaces and usually open to the elements throughout the year.
A good Building Inspector Resume will address qualification, licensing requirements and work experience to enable the reader to call the applicant for a face to face interview.
