Customer Service Managers ensures that the employer’s customers get their goods or services in the right time, right quality, right quantity and at the right price. They also ensure that after the sale is effected, the customers do not face any problems with the products or services and if they do, they ensure that the problems are solved without delay and inconvenience.
The ideal situation for any employer is not to have a Customer Service Manager, but that is utopian and therefore the need for such managers. Most Customer Service Managers grow into the position through years of field or back office work in the area of customer service,
Good Customer Service Managers, perform multiple functions and the range of their activities is a subject of commitment to good customer service. The most successful ones, ensure through internal liaison work that customer complaints are minimal. Since they act as the bridge between the front line and the employer, Customer Service Managers need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Since increasingly, service is a product of systems and processes, Customer Service Managers participate in the creation of such processes and in tweaking them to accommodate changing customer expectations and cost constraints.
While formal education is not as important as experience, a Graduate Degree, preferably in Management will be an added attraction to employers.
