If you are looking for a career in this highly specialized field, you will require a degree in Mechanical Engineering and or a degree in Fire Protection Engineering with substantial experience in the latter field in case a formal degree is not available. Further requirements will usually include the possession of current Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in the discipline of Fire Protection Engineering from the appropriate authority.

Employers usually expect prospects to be fully familiar with all local, state and federal regulations pertaining to Fire Engineering.

Just about any building housing people and material requires the services of Fire Engineers. Since forests are now exposed to fire hazards, a specialty field there too has developed with specialized training. The field therefore is vast and offers plenty of scope for employment.

Your Fire Resume will perforce be expected to contain information regarding your professional qualifications and certifications besides, membership of professional associations and other bodies. Work experience for senior positions become critical and you must highlight your contributions in prevention, protection and fighting of fires.
